BLINKEY
SKILL: 3D modeling, 3D printing, watch app design, leadership
Collaborated with an electronic engineer to design a pacifier embedded with GPS sensor that sends children's location to parents' smart watch. When the child is away from parents, Blinkey sends a signal to the parent's watch to alert them.

A pacifier that works with watch app to protect kids
An estimated 70,000 children are kidnapped in China every year. Only 0.1% of them are found. In America, about 98% of kids can be found. Almost all of the kids are under 6 year-old, and mostly are under 3 year-old.
Kidnapping has become a growing evil business in China. Steve Vickers of Kroll Associates has reportedly noted that some common scenarios of kidnapping in China includes the kidnapping for ransom and kidnapping of a foreigner (commonly in Hong Kong or Macau).

The serious truth about kidnapping in China
From 1991 to 1996, Chinese police freed 88,000 kidnapped children.

In 2011, Chinese police asserted that they rescued over 13,000 children in last two years.

In September 2013, Chinese security forces had rescued 9200 children, and arrested 301 suspected kidnappers

According to Xinhua news agency, since 2009, police have rescued over 54,000 children.

what can i do to secure babies under 3 years old
?
Why a GPS tracker watch for kids does not work?
There are many watches designed for kids which have GPS function, and they work well to help parents track their children for security purpose. However, a watch is not ideal for kids 1-3 years old for the following reasons:

1. It is not comfortable for young kids;

2. Kidnappers may easily notice that it has a GPS and remove it.

When kidnapping happens, the earlier parents get noticed, the better the chance is to find their children. Blinkey is a pacifier with GPS function embedded. By working with the smart watch app, it helps parents to find their babies who might be in danger. When kidnapping happens, it navigates parents to the location of their babies.

The pacifier has a GPS sensor. Because pacifiers are essential to babies, kidnappers won't discard them-- they may even use it more often to calm the baby down.

The clipper makes sure the pacifier won't fall down when the baby is sleeping.

Simple menu, very easy to use
By moving the button on the screen, parents can set up the distance limit they want to get notification within
Watch vibrates, and parents get a notification message once the child moves beyond the distance they set up
Navigation helps parents track the location of the child
